Laser & Light treatments for vascular lesions

Some vascular lesions like birthmarks form when we’re born. Others, like port wine stains, can appear later in life. Regardless of your particular lesion, our laser treatments can help. Unlike other laser treatments that focus on the surface, our Fotona system penetrates deep into the skin, removing lesions at their source without the need for more invasive procedures.

Our Fotona lesion removal system uses a long-pulse Nd:YAG laser. This laser penetrates the skin to an ideal depth, perfect for addressing hemangiomas and other pigmentation issues at their source. According to research, over 75% of patients with deep hemangiomas can see dramatic improvements after undergoing Nd:YAG laser lesion removal.

What causes vascular lesions?

There are several types of vascular lesions, and each develops for different reasons. Hemangiomas, for example, appear shortly after birth as faint pink discolorations and then darken over time. Dilated vessels on the face can occur because of sun damage, rosacea, or trauma. Cherry angiomas occur just by chance or genetics.

What are the signs?

In most cases, vascular lesions can be easily spotted. Your birthmark, veins or lesions may appear lighter or darker than the rest of your skin. It can also be red, flat, or raised. These strange marks can appear just about anywhere on the body. If present from birth, vascular lesions don’t typically pose health risks. Lesions that develop later in life are not typically dangerous either but should still be evaluated.
